when she is holding a telephone receiver. (We still can't get her to say it when there's someone on the other line though-- she just waves). She loves to try on everyone's shoes and to hold baskets or purses on her arm. She is infatuated with baby dolls and we play make-believe with them all the time: wrapping the doll and putting her to sleep, reading a book to or giving a toy to the doll, putting the doll into Becca's old infant carrier or pushing a doll in a mini stroller that our neighbor has. Becca is getting more and more skilled with body movements too. She can run and jump, including running downhill! She just learned to climb by herself up the ladder to the slide near our house. And this isn't just any ladder, it's similar to a rope
ladder where the sides are suspended by chain, but the rungs are metal bars. Can you tell we're impressed? In addition, Becca has been growing up to be interested in toilets, so a few weeks ago, we got her a baby potty. She will make the sign for toilet maybe once a day or every other day, at which point we will let her sit on the toilet for as long as she wants, then throw a square of TP in, then wash her hands. She never does any business, but it reinforces that the toilet is a happy place. Well, on Thursday Oct. 5th, Becca did do some business on the toilet! It was far sooner than we expected this to happen, and I'm sure it was just an isolated incident, but we were thrilled. So thrilled, in fact, that we thought we'd tell you about it!
