Becca's Words

Rebecca is 17 months old now, almost a year and a half. She talks a ton, only in a language we can't understand. Apparently she is taking her time deciding to say English words. She sure does understand just about everything we say! We aren't concerned about her being developmentally slow or anything, because she can communicate quite well with sign language. Becca knows at least 20 or 25 signs, and learns a couple more each week. And verbally, she will say "uh-oh," "mama," and "dada." If you're interested, I'll close this post with a list of all the signs I can think of off the top of my head that Becca will create: hi/bye, daddy, food, water, please, thank-you, phone, dog, cat, bear, baby, gentle, hurt, change, outside, shoes, bath, sleep, finished, up, home.

I gave three words that Becca already says (mama, dada, uh-oh), but it appears that over the past few weeks, she has added words that she will pronounce if we say them first. Sock ("gock"), Bye-bye ("ba ba"), and now, my personal favorite, cheese ("sheez")! She just started saying cheese on Friday (Sept 15th) while we were in the grocery store. It is so cute!

You forgot about the sign for cracker...that is my favorite! She is so cute when she asks for a cracker (which is often!)
