Memories

I know some of you are going to fall off your chairs when you scroll down and see that I made two posts in one day. But I was taking some "me" time this evening and catching up on a month's worth of blog news from some of your websites (and let me tell you, it's a LOT of reading to do!!), and I came across this little game:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I am so glad you did this too! I cracked up when I saw what you left on mine! Remember Mr. Bolin when he told us he went to school with Bon? What a goober! And Dancing Queen...good times. Remember how they called us three the Dublinites?

Anyway, one memory that came into my mind about you was a birthday party you had when we were little. It was a slumber party. You guys had this huge Christmas tree that we thought would fall on us! So funny....can you believe how long we have been friends? Fun stuff!

Oh, I've got several, but the easiset one is spending New Years Eve 2004 with you and Ben. The Balls came over for part of the time & we played Cash Flow & ate treats.

I remember walking by you when you had your yard sale at Continental Park--and discovering you were moving sooner than I'd thought. It was fun to talk about our crazy lives and adventures!

P.S. I think your cousin is Heidi Mortensen (now of course I can't remember her maiden name). I went to high school with her. Small world!

Laurel, I think we need someone buff to move the table. Remember jazz band days from Wells? :)

I don't have one specific memory of you, but I will always remember the sweetness about you and how you always seem so at peace with everything. Even just thinking about your demeanor it is calming. You are one special lady!

I love my first memory of you; meeting you for the first time with Ana....we had to find out who was marrying our "Bin." And from then on when you guys moved to Rexburg with game nights and dinner and stuff. But my favorite is the second to last time I saw you. You opening up about "mothering issues" that we all go through was so helpful. I have often thought of the comment you made about us mothers opening up more with each other...and then maybe we would be able to deal with things better. I think of that often now and really try to tell other mothers what I am going through now. Thank you, sweetie.

Well Lola,
I have known you a very long time so I have a lot of memories. Instead of trying to decide, I just went with the first one that popped into my head. I remember driving in the orange fiat together to piano lessons at Mrs. Garcia's house. We would always decide who had their lesson first by who had their theory done. The other person would sit in that little room writing stuff and memorizing composers as fast as they could, just hoping she would ask the first person to play that song just one more time so they could finish their work and not get in trouble!

Hmm, has it really been a month since I posted this? Here I go:

KERI, Playing Cash Flow was mine, too, only I always forget and think of it as Rat Race. I also remember when you and Randy taught financial night at enrichment-- I learned so much about keeping track of receipts and earning in the margins!

JANAE, you have long been my inspiration in many ways. Mellow and accomplished. I remember the food group that you put together, I believe just because you thought it would be fun, and it was!

ALISA, there are so many to choose from, and this one will seem odd. I remember games and fun at your house, and one night we watched "Brother Bear" together. We thought the Strange Brew moose were so funny that we almost watched it a second time with their commentary!

LISA, as soon as you said 'orange fiat' I thought you were going to tell about your first auto accident that we had coming home from piano lessons. A guy in a red sports car rear-ended you and kept saying something like, "Man, I just kept looking at that [whatever cool or vintage car he saw on the freeway] and didn't realize that the traffic ahead of me had stopped." OVER AND OVER. Okay, we get it. you feel bad. That was the beginning of a lot of really interesting and scary auto experiences you have had, huh?

How about the one with you falling asleep anywhere, and in any position, during our college days? Those were good memories!

Erin,
You stinker! We are opposites in sooo many ways, aren't we. It's amazing we made it as roommates. You being the organized one who made her bed immediately every morning, folding her pajamas and placing them under her pillow. Me being the flaky, disorganized one always trying to finish homework and write papers at all hours, and dozing as necessary.
My memory for you is the day we made beef enchiladas by just tasting the sauce and adding chili powder or garlic powder until it was to our liking. Before that day I thought it was impossible to cook anything without a recipe!
