FLY lady
For almost a year now, I have been attempting to structure my life better and not feel like I'm drowning in a cluttered apartment and dirty dishes. I have been reading a website called flylady.net and trying to implement her ideas (I don't subscribe to the site because she sends out many emails each day). I have three major stumbling blocks, however: 1. I procrastinate, 2. Projects take more time for me to do than for the average person, and 3. I get sidetracked easily. So, it has been slow-going, but since I finished working in early April, I have made some great strides and begun to feel like I am forming habits of cleaning in baby steps, doing a little each day, and making sure I do certain tasks every day (this is how I avoid drowning). I experienced a small victory the other day. Flylady uses the acronym CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) to diagnose her readers' condition and her methods are designed to create a home that not only I can endure living in, but a guest would feel comfortable in as well. So, the other day, Ben called from work. He had run into a very old friend and invited this person's family to come to our place in one hour to visit. I simply said, "that's fine," hung up the phone, and continued to feed the baby. There was no need for last-minute cleaning. What a thrill!!
